Mimi Lyons

As the law clerk at Everbright Legacy Law, Mimi supports the firm’s attorneys with legal research and writing. Her working style is patient and compassionate, and she is always ready to help.

Mimi has always been drawn to elder law. All four of her grandparents played a big role in her upbringing and remain part of her life today. As they have aged, the roles have reversed, and now they are the ones who need assistance, support, and companionship. Mimi feels lucky that her grandparents have loving children and grandchildren to walk them through diagnoses and care decisions. She knows that is not the case for every older adult, and she is grateful to work for a firm that helps so many families through tough transitions.

Before law school, Mimi studied political science and human rights at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After graduating, she moved to Washington, D.C., and worked as a senior associate at a public affairs firm. There she worked extensively on the firm’s pro bono and human rights portfolio, with a focus on advocating for the release of international political prisoners held by autocratic regimes.

In 2024, Mimi returned home to White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where she was born and raised, to attend Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she is now a third-year law student. Her passion for helping others drives her work, and she is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families. Outside of work and law school, Mimi stays involved in her community through volunteer programs and service initiatives.

A quote that captures her philosophy: “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good.” Her next personal challenge is passing the bar exam. On her bookshelf is “Theo of Golden” by Allen Levi. In her own words, she is driven, energetic, helpful, witty, easygoing, amenable, and eager to please. When she’s not working, Mimi enjoys playing tennis, golfing, and walking her bulldog, Brixton.
