Get to know Geri
Geri is an attorney at Everbright Legacy Law, where she helps clients move through the probate and trust administration processes with confidence and efficiency. She identifies hurdles and pitfalls to create a seamless path forward and works alongside clients to navigate obstacles as they arise.
Relatable and down-to-earth, Geri helps clients understand that they do not need to fear the legal system. She wants every client to leave their interactions knowing they have been heard and understood, that their unique needs and experiences matter, and that they can trust her expertise as they navigate what comes next.
Those who know Geri well describe her as:
- Level-headed: As the mother of four young boys, she thrives at bringing order to chaos.
- Compassionate: Having navigated many of the same challenges as her clients, she understands the fear of the unknown and guides others through their own with reassurance.
- Friendly: She loves people, learning their stories, their quirks, and the details that make them who they are.
Geri’s father was an estate-planning attorney for more than fifty years, and he often said he had no clients, only friends he helped with their legal problems. He loved setting people at ease and excelled at simplifying complicated processes. Watching him, Geri realized she wanted work that left her as fulfilled as he was, and it was an honor to practice alongside him for more than a decade before he passed away.
Since childhood, Geri has felt a keen sense of defiance against injustice. She wants to make sure no one feels small or taken advantage of simply because their voice isn’t as loud as others’. As the mother of four sons, she also hopes to model for them what it means to know women as bold, kind, and intelligent leaders, at home and in the community.
Geri sings at her church, helps coach her son’s baseball team, and focuses her community support on helping neighborhood families with children and meals. She believes the world would be a better place if everyone broke bread with the people who live on their street.
Among her proudest accomplishments are graduating from law school and passing the bar exam with a newborn, and raising four wonderful sons.
A quote that captures her philosophy: “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” (Oscar Wilde)
She is currently planning a solo trip with her oldest son for his upcoming 15th birthday. On her bookshelf, “Gentle and Lowly” by Dane Ortlund is currently holding her attention.
Seven words that describe her: tenacious, loud, joyful, ridiculous, gentle, perceptive, and spontaneous. One thing most people don’t know about her is that, between high school and college, she spent two years training with a drama ministry and traveling around the Southeastern and Northeastern United States, performing in schools and churches.
When she’s not working, Geri enjoys life with her four sons, singing and playing the piano, trying new restaurants, and anything that involves being with people and getting to know them.
