Get to know Cassie
As a Paralegal at Everbright Legacy Law, Cassie handles Medical Assistance applications, veterans benefits, and Minnesota Veterans Home admissions. She helps families navigate systems that can feel designed to create barriers rather than provide help, drawing on 18 years of experience and a great deal of compassion to fight hard for the people she serves.
Cassie won’t sugarcoat things. She tells clients the truth, sets realistic expectations, and keeps them informed every step of the way. At the same time, she never loses sight of the fact that behind every application is a real person and a family going through something difficult, and she treats every client the way she’d want her own family member treated: with honesty, patience, and deep respect.
Those who know Cassie well describe her as:
- Honest: Clients always know where they stand with her; she’d rather have a hard conversation upfront than let someone proceed without a clear picture.
- Direct: She communicates in plain language rather than legal jargon, because her clients deserve clarity, not confusion.
- Compassionate: She understands that most people come to her during one of the hardest seasons of their lives, and every call, application, and deadline matters deeply to her because it matters deeply to them.
Eighteen years ago, Cassie took a receptionist position at an elder law firm and fell in love with the work. Advocating for families turned out to be exactly where she was meant to be, even if she had no idea at the time that’s where she was headed.
Cassie considers raising her two kids her greatest accomplishment.
A quote that captures her philosophy: “The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.” (Mahatma Gandhi)
Her next challenge is the YWCA Women’s Triathlon in August. The book on her shelf is “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
Seven words that describe her: honest, unapologetic, sincere, confident, funny, loyal, and determined. One thing most people don’t know about her is that, five years ago, she helped her best friend start a family by serving as a surrogate for him and his partner.
When she’s not working, Cassie enjoys working out, spending time with her partner and kids, planning her next tattoo, trying new restaurants, and quality time with friends and family.
